We follow the following sequence of work when installing DRL:
Step 1: determine the location for the installation of lights
Step 2: mount the mounting brackets and install the lights
Step 3: select the location for the control unit and secure it
Step 4: extend and connect the wires, check the correct operation of DRL.
Step 1. The requirements for the installation of DRL are described in UNECE Regulation No. 87. According to them, navigation lights should be installed at least 250 mm and not more than 1500 mm from the surface of the roadway. The minimum distance between the inner edges of the lights is 600 mm, and from the lights to the edge of the car - no more than 400 mm.
Based on this, DRL will be installed in the bumper, at the edges of the license plate. There is enough free space to install the DRL of this model, so there is nothing to cut and saw.
Step 2. For ease of installation, remove the front bumper. After that, try on the mounting brackets, mark the correct location and screw them to the bumper screws that are included in the kit. Then, the light blocks simply snap into the brackets.
Step 3. The length of the wires has sufficient margin for convenient placement of the DRL control unit in the engine compartment. We fixed the unit on a plastic casing, between the suction nozzle of the air filter and the battery. The main requirement of the manufacturer when pulling wires to the unit is not to fasten the wires to the fuel pipes and the pipes of the cooling system.
Step 4. DRL should not only be "correct", but also correctly connected. UNECE Regulation No. 48 states that daytime running lamps must be switched on automatically when the engine is started and automatically switched off when headlamps or parking lights are switched on, except when the headlamps are on for a short time (wink).
